About Gary
Starting in the golf
business in 1980, Gary turned professional in 1993 by taking an
assistant position at Greenhurst Country Club in Auburn, Indiana.
Following the conclusion of the 1998 season, he went to the Fort Wayne
Country Club in 1999 as the number one assistant. Gary completed my PGA
education and was elected to membership in 2001, and in 2006 completed
education and testing to become the first Certified Professional in the
Indiana Section of the PGA, with a specialty certification in Golf
Operations. Leaving FWCC after the 2005 season, he became a staff
instructor at The United States Golf Academy at Swan Lake. In 2007, Gary
was contracted by Cobra Golf as a demo specialist, organizing and
performing Cobra Demo Days in the northern 2/3 of Indiana. In July of
2007, he was brought in as an assistant at Brookwood Golf Club.
His first job in the business was as
maintenance help at Havenhurst Golf Club in New Haven, where he grew up.
The following year, Gary started caddying at Fort Wayne Country Club and
working in the bag room. Eventually rising to the position of bag room
manager, he continued at FWCC through 1992 while putting himself through
college at Indiana-Purdue at Fort Wayne.
As a PGA professional,
his goal is to provide a golf operation that is as different and dynamic
as the game itself. Gary's objective is to utilize his unique
combination of experience, business skills, and interpersonal skills to
construct and manage a golf operation at a quality facility that
encompasses all of the things that make golf more than a game.
